Micro-Needling

Micro-Needling is a form of collagen induction therapy intended to smooth wrinkles, improve skin tone and texture and decrease scarring. The process works by delivering tiny micro channels to the skin using a sterile needle. The controlled micro-injuries help produce collagen and elastin.

The concept of Micro-Needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself in response to physical damage. Immediately after an injury, the body naturally reorganizes and rebuilds, stimulating production of fibrin as well as improving the extracellular skin matrix.

Problems Addressed with Micro-Needling

Dr. Holy uses specialized homeopathic methods for Micro-Needling, customizing the process to meet each patient’s unique needs. She uses a special device to create superficial micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin to repair:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improved skin radiance
  • Stretch marks
  • Indented acne scars
  • Chicken pox scars
  • Dilated/enlarged pores
  • Loss of elasticity and skin thickness
  • Rough and uneven skin texture
  • Post-surgery scars

This process can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, back and upper torso.

Micro-Needling Recovery and Results

Micro-Needling treatment times vary based on the size of the area being treated. After the procedure, your skin may appear red and slightly swollen. It may feel tight and mildly sensitive. These symptoms will diminish within 24 hours and makeup may be applied the day after the procedure. Maximum results are typically seen in 6-8 weeks.

Treatment Recommendations

Some patients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
